Whether you have symptoms, but don't know what's wrong, or you have a medical diagnosis and want additional treatment options, your Spark Health Naturopathic Doctor has extensive training and experience in looking deeper. We test for, and reveal connections between, underlying health issues, imbalances, and deficiencies that can cause or contribute to your problems such as:
Spark Health Naturopathic Doctors are also well-trained and experienced in conventional medical diagnosis and treatment, so we understand your other medical conditions and recommendations. This allows us to safely bring conventional and complementary approaches together in a strategic and coordinated way, with an emphasis on treating the whole person rather than one organ system or condition.
Treatment recommendations are highly individualized and may include several of the following:
Just like Medical Doctors, Spark Health Naturopathic Doctors are trained to serve as primary care general practitioners who are experts in the prevention, diagnosis, management, and treatment of both acute and chronic health conditions.
Both types of Doctors are trained at accredited, four-year, post-graduate, medical schools in conventional medical sciences, including anatomy, physiology, pathology, microbiology, immunology, clinical and physical diagnosis, laboratory diagnosis, cardiology, gastroenterology, gynecology, etc, Naturopathic Doctors receive additional detailed study in a wide variety of natural therapies including clinical nutrition, botanical medicine, nutrient therapy, hydrotherapy, physical medicine, and counseling.
Naturopathic doctors are guided by six principles, which forms the foundation of this distinct branch of medicine:
Naturopathic Doctors order many of the same lab tests that your MD might, but favor more comprehensive testing in order to gain a fuller understanding of your unique physiology. They will often order additional functional lab testing, such as digestive testing or micronutrient levels, to evaluate whole-body wellness.
Spark Naturopathic Doctors are able to prescribe conventional medications when needed, but prefer to use other options when possible.
At Spark Health we are proud to be a vital link between the best of conventional medicine and the best of natural and alternative therapies. Our ability to combine the use of well-researched natural treatments with conventional medications when needed, allows us to use a wider range of tools than many other health clinics and care for a wider variety of health conditions and patients.
Our commitment to having multiple types of providers working together in one place allows us to combine therapies for maximum effectiveness and offer what the patient needs, without being limited to only a few tools at hand.
Yes, Spark Health doctors will communicate with outside providers when there are questions or a need to discuss your treatment plan. We will often send records and test results back and forth so all providers have access to the same information.
Yes! We almost always find value in ordering more comprehensive lab testing than patients have had done with their MD. In addition, we are often considering the optimal ranges, not just normal/abnormal ranges. Patients may be technically in normal range on tests, still have symptoms if they are outside of the optimal range, and this can help guide successful treatment.
We do not accept any medical insurance for office services, though you can use PPO insurance toward the cost of labs in some cases. We will provide a coded receipt (superbill) so that you may submit that to your insurance for reimbursement (some PPO plans will cover naturopathic services at the out-of-network rate).
